Jacelyn got her MCA testing scores today and all I can say is that I don't give a FUCK what the state says. If I could she would be pulled out of the MCA's every year. I think they are worthless and have encouraged lax teaching standards. No Child Left Behind my ass.

I should add that according to the STATE (ugh) she is above average in everything. I read it briefly.
last year, devon's teacher told me all year how he was sooo far behind in everything... reading, spelling, reading comprehension, math, everything they did and then test on. so imagine my surprise when he exceeded state expectations on his stupid standardized test. i kept rereading his results telling myself, he only had a bad teacher and he IS smart.
My husband, and pretty much every other teacher he knows DESPISES standardized tests. They hate that they are forced to "teach to the test" It's complete and utter bullshit. And it stifles the teachers who really are passionate about their subject and their students. It's a shitty system and one that needs changing...along with half the "systems" we've got in this country.
I am a teacher. I despise, loathe, and hate the standardized tests we are forced to force children into taking. I have yet to meet a teacher who thinks these tests are a good idea. If I had any choice at all, I would refuse to give these awful tests, and spare my students (and myself) the extra added "test stress" they cause.
