One of the most striking things about Yellowstone is the extent of the 1988
fires. I just had no idea. Since it's been 21 years now, you don't see
charred tree trunks, but more often scenes like this. Fire does rejuvenate
the environment and small trees are growing everywhere, but it's very
dramatic how the landscape still shows the scars, in such an extensive area
of the park.
