Ok, I know this is bad. But you know how you meet someone who smokes you kind of automatically get a negative viewpoint of them right off the bat. Yeah, that happens to me when I see someone reading the bible. Or having a bible in a situation outside of a church. Don't get me wrong, I have friends who believe in god and others who believe in other faiths. Seeing the bible just colors my first impression of them, and my first impressions VERY rarely ever hold up and I rarely ever let my first impressions lead my relationships, unless of course there is some gut instinct going on as well.

The owner of this particular bible turned out to be a wonderful woman just starting the divorce journey. She was very nice to talk to while Alice was swimming.

Like I said, I know it's bad, but it's a kneejerk reaction. KJV just somehow makes it worse.

I agree. I tend to profile too quickly. It's a bad habit. For example, someone could walk into my woods and think a crazy lady lived in the house. Hmmm, bad example. Never mind.

(I do get what you're saying.)

Or on a related note, do you ever have it happen when you've known the person a little while and they seem "normal" but then one day they slip something into the conversation that makes you panic and re-think all past discussions? such as:

- "...and that's why all gays are going to Hell"
- "There is no one I admire more than George W. Bush"
- "I hate animals"

:-)
