This is how she came home from the last day of school. Plus writing all over her arms. It infuriates me. She THINKS she is cat. She meows at
inappropriate (and at age 14 is there EVER an appropriate) times. Her mother encourages it...furthering isolating the child.

Heather, she really thinks she's a cat or is she kidding?
That's got to be hard when her mom is encouraging that.
That's extremely unfortunate. I feel for you. Sounds like her maturity is incredibly stunted.
Oh, dear. I apologize if you've given us history on this and I'm not remembering. Have you ever had her talk to a counselor of some kind?
I'm with CC - I missed the background story here.
It all looks so innocent here, but obviously there is more than meets the camera.
My daughter used to write all over herself at about that age. I think it was a way for her to maintain some control of what happened to her body at a time when those new hormones where making her feel out of control. Counseling helped her some; it's worth a try with yours, especially if some type of family therapy could be set up that included the mother in this case, too. Sorry to hear about the infuriating mess.
We did therapy when we first got the kids. Their mother told them they weren't crazy and they didn't have to say a word. So they didn't. Thousands of dollars for silence.
We don't feel it is a therapy situation - but perhaps we will re-examine it. It's mostly being told that....ugh it's too much to go into. Suffice it to say it's getting somewhat better...since she meowed in front of the CEO of my husband's company. Our outrage, scorn, horror and disbelief at her behavior really seemed to affect her for once...
This too shall pass right?
Yes, this too shall pass. Her mother sounds like a total nutcase, so she is so very lucky to have you and Kurt for stability in her life. I have no doubt it's very hard, but keep it up. For her sake.
